Licensed Professional Counselor - In Training (WI)

Kristy completed a Master of Science in Education degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy She previously graduated from Northland College after studying environmental systems and sees human experience through an ecological lens.  Kristy holds a Licensed Professional Counselor – In Training (LPC-IT # 5276-226) credential in Wisconsin.  Kristy is seeing clients under the supervision of Patrick Parker, MA, LMFT (MN) and Dan Maki, MA, LMFT (MN, WI, AZ), as she pursues full licensure in Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling.

She believes that we live in a complex world, one which is both messy and full of joy. With this in mind, she understands that people can find themselves overwhelmed and needing help. Because it is our connections that make us who we are and shape the way we live in the world, she believes working to enhance these connections can make our lives and our relationships more meaningful.

Kristy enjoys working with couples of all orientations and will meet you wherever you find yourself in your relationship, beginning, middle, or end-- there is always room for growth.  Working to strengthen attachment is also a great way to help parents and teens reconnect and work though their changing relationships. Knowing that change is the only constant in life, she also loves to help people move through the challenges transitions can bring. No matter what you are experiencing, Kristy will work to create a safe and collaborative space in which to discover what you need.

Kristy's strengths-based, existential alignment puts your choices at the center of your experience. She does find the modalities of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Attachment based therapy for Depressed Teens and Children very helpful in specific situations. Because the culture we live in shapes our experiences, she also finds Narrative Therapy an effective way to help people tell their own stories. Her intention is to help you see your life as it is, and as you want it to be.

When Kristy isn’t working with clients she enjoys hanging out with her family and her dogs. She also loves to read and has decided to take up mountain biking.

Kristy is no longer accepting new clients through The Guidance Group Counseling due to our upcoming closure this fall.
