Clinical Manager / Therapist & Supervisor
Maija holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Social work from Saint Catherine University / University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota (#19982) and has been independently licensed since early 2015 and a practicing clinician since 2012. She is also Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wisconsin (#8532-123). She became a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in Minnesota (#306135) in 2021. Additionally, she has over 12 years of experience working in the mental health and substance use fields in varying roles.
Through her clinical work she has been able to assist people in reaching their personal goals towards mental wellness. Maija uses an integrative approach with clients, and she has a strong commitment to using methods that are proven to be effective and research based. Some common frameworks used in her practice include Dialectical Behavior-Informed Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, psychodynamic and relational-based therapies. She has a strong commitment to working to promote equity and address social justice issues within the mental health setting. She consistently demonstrates the value and belief that all persons have worth and strives to help clients identify and work with his/her/their individual strengths.

Maija provides clinical management to our staff. She is no longer accepting new clients through The Guidance Group Counseling due to our upcoming closure this fall.
